Justin has over 20 years’ experience specialising in all forms of corporate and personal insolvency.
He graduated from Birmingham University in 2000 before joining Moore Stephens Corporate Recovery in 2001. Since then, he has worked for two reputable insolvency and restructuring firms prior to joining Currie Young in October 2022. During this period, he has specialised in advising owner-managed businesses in the SME market.
Justin has extensive experience in all types of formal insolvency appointments including Administrative Receiverships, Administrations, Liquidations (both solvent & insolvent), Company Voluntary Arrangements and Bankruptcies, he has also carried out many independent business reviews.
He passed his Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency in 2006 and is a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association.
Justin has a passion for all sports, in particular football, having played professionally for several years prior to embarking on his academic career.
Steve is a founder and Director of Currie Young Limited with over 25 years of experience in insolvency. Having grown up in Stoke-on-Trent he trained at KPMG before moving on to further his career which includes a period as a secondee to a major bank during the crash of 2007. He returned to Stoke in 2008 with Begbies Traynor and in 2015 he acquired their Stoke-on-Trent office and incorporated Currie Young.
Steve’s passion is rugby and he played over 500 games for Stoke-on-Trent RUFC 1st XV before retiring in 2014 so it is no surprise that he believes in working together to achieve the best results.

Lisa has over 15 years’ experience in insolvency dealing with both corporate and personal assignments.
Having grown up in Stoke-on-Trent, she completed a law degree at Leicester University whilst maintaining her links with her home town. In 2007 she began her career in insolvency with KPMG and by 2009 had achieved a certificate of proficiency.
In 2012, Lisa joined Clough Corporate Solutions in Manchester before being recruited by Begbies Traynor LLP in January 2014.
She undertook the JIEB examinations and qualified as an Insolvency Practitioner in March 2016. Whilst she undertakes and enjoys all forms of insolvency work she specialises in investigations, compliance and bankruptcy.
Her passions include fitness and most recently her miniature poodle, Frankie.
Lisa believes in giving clear and concise advice, whilst considering all the logistics.
Sophie is a qualified insolvency practitioner under the office holder number 030510 and has over 10 years’ experience in restructuring & insolvency.
Having graduated from The University of Nottingham in 2008, Sophie then worked for a reputable insolvency firm for 14 years prior to joining Currie Young in 2023.
Sophie has experience in all types of insolvency appointments, in a wide range of sectors including retail, leisure, education, manufacturing & construction.
Sophie specialises in corporate appointments, having extensive experience with Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidations, & Administrations, having assisted with a number of pre-packaged sales.
In addition to insolvent businesses, Sophie can assist where shareholders wish to close their business and maximise their return by carrying out a Members’ Voluntary Liquidation (solvent liquidation).
Outside of work Sophie enjoys holidays, sunshine, gin & tonics, & spending time with her working cocker spaniel Digby.
Lee has over 30 years’ experience across a variety of business sectors and industries, dealing in both personal and corporate insolvency. Having started his career with KPMG in 1985, he latterly went on to work for Begbies Traynor LLP in 2012. He has a reputation for providing no nonsense advice to individuals and businesses experiencing financial difficulties, putting forward commercial solutions in challenging financial circumstances.
Lee specialises in all aspects of corporate and personal insolvency, from administrations to owner manager businesses and bankruptcies/individual voluntary arrangements. He approaches all tasks with the same pro-active style, seeking the best financial solution for the benefit of stakeholders, whether involving a formal insolvency appointment or not.
Emma gained an NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Business Administration, before taking a position at KPMG, where she remained for 12 years. During that time, she specialised in personal insolvency, specifically bankruptcies. Emma then joined smaller firm in July 2014 and remained there for 5 years, dealing with a varied portfolio of Individual Voluntary Arrangements. Emma joined Currie Young in March 2019 to broaden her knowledge of corporate insolvency. During this period, she has gained significant knowledge and skills in dealing with company liquidations (both insolvent and solvent).
Outside of work Emma loves spending time with her family, including her husband, two daughters and grandson. In between being a wife, a mum and a nanny, she also finds time to spend with her two dogs Harley and Hazel.
Lynn has over 13 years’ experience within the insolvency sector and joins Currie Young after taking a career break to raise her family.
Lynn graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1998, shortly after joining KPMG in Stoke where she specialised in Bankruptcy and Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVA’S). In 2001, she relocated to London and continued her career with KPMG in the Corporate Simplification team specialising in solvent reconstructions to include Members’ Voluntary liquidations, strike offs and large group streamlining projects.
Whilst at KPMG Lynn passed her Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency and became a chartered accountant (ACCA).
Outside of work Lynn loves to spend time with her family and friends making memories, she has a passion for travel, live music and playing Netball.
Evie has been a trainee administrator at Currie Young since 2022.
Evie grew up in Stoke on Trent and completed a law degree at the University of Birmingham in 2022. Since joining Currie Young full in 2022 Evie has worked alongside the senior members of staff on a variety of insolvency appointments, including Bankruptcies, Liquidations and Administrations.
Evie is currently studying for the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency and is a student member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association.
Outside of work, Evie enjoys fitness, including the gym and Pilates classes, and is learning to golf.
Ciaran becomes a trainee insolvency administrator at Currie Young having recently graduated from university.
Ciaran studied at Nottingham University graduating in Business Management and Marketing in 2022.
Whilst on his studies in Nottingham, Ciaran kickstarted his experience within the financial sector completing an internship with an investment company in 2020. Getting an early taste as to what the insolvency profession is about, Ciaran is excited to start this next chapter in his career, with a view to sitting the Certificate of Proficiency examination in the coming years.
Outside of work Ciaran is a keen rugby player, currently playing for Stoke-on-Trent RUFC 1st XV.
Joanne began working in insolvency in 2003 where she joined KPMG. After leaving in 2012, she had a stint working in local government before joining a Bristol based insolvency practitioner. She joined Currie Young in 2020, initially as a case administrator, but has recently taken a step back to take on a more varied office support role.
Outside of work she enjoys exploring the great outdoors.
Nicky holds a dual honours degree in Law and Business Administration (Marketing), which she completed at Keele University before sitting her Legal Practice Course at Staffordshire University’s Law School.
She began her career in 2007, as Insolvency Administrator at KPMG Stoke, latterly enjoying stints in the Manchester and Birmingham Offices as part of the Business Development Team. In 2014, Nicky left KPMG and moved to local firm Dunion & Co, as Insolvency Administrator and Marketing Coordinator. This firm was later acquired by Begbies Traynor Group, where Nicky took the role of Business Development Manager for the Staffordshire Office.
Outside of work, Nicky is kept very busy by her three young daughters! In her downtime, she enjoys socialising with friends over good food and wine.
After graduating from the University of Liverpool with a Law Degree, Sarah has worked in financial services for the past two years, gaining knowledge about the finance industry, specifically pensions and investments.
Sarah joins as a trainee and is part of our specialised training program to kick start her new career. Sarah fancied a career change from the world of finance as she would like to put her legal background and knowledge into good use.
In her personal time Sarah is a keen gym goer and box weekly. She loves baking in her spare time and going on nature walks and hikes. She is also a big foodie who likes trying out different restaurants.
Prior to joining Currie Young, Nicki served as a director at DBR Restructuring, previously known as Dains Business Recovery. With more than 25 years of experience advising both businesses and individuals, Nicki, a qualified accountant and licensed insolvency practitioner, works closely with clients to provide a thorough understanding of the options available.
As well as dealing with struggling businesses, Nicki can assist shareholders of solvent companies maximise their return from their business, through the Members’ Voluntary Liquidation (‘MVL’) procedure.
Outside of work, Nicki is kept busy by her young family. Her accomplishments include being a finalist in the Finance sector of the Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) awards.
Tracey has worked in the insolvency field since 1985, having begun her career with the Official Receiver’s Office. In 2005, she attained her Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency (CPI) qualification.
She is skilled in offering the highest level of client service and experienced in all aspects of insolvency and business recovery.
When not at work, Tracey is an avid reader and enjoys walking.
Luke joined Currie Young in August 2024, as part of our Apprenticeship Scheme.
In his role as Trainee Administrator, Luke provides support and assistance to our team of Administrators.
Outside of work, Luke is an avid football and sports fan; he plays football at the weekends and likes to try his hand at new sporting activities. He also enjoys spending time with his friends and family.
Ruby joined Currie Young in August 2024, as part of our Apprenticeship Scheme.
In her role as Trainee Administrator, Ruby provides support and assistance to our team of Administrators.
In her spare time, Ruby loves all things fitness, whether that be the gym (specifically lifting), walking or hiking. She also enjoys travel and spending time with family and friends.
Kaitlyn joined Currie Young in August 2024, as part of our Apprenticeship Scheme.
In her role as Trainee Office Administrator, Kaitlyn provides support and assistance to the wider team.
Outside of work, Kaitlyn enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog ‘Maisie’. When not walking in the countryside with Maisie, she’s a frequent gym-goer.
Originally from Stoke on Trent, Ben is an experienced Insolvency Manager who brings a wealth of experience from both the Government Insolvency Service and private practice. He leads Currie Young’s team of Insolvency Administrators and Apprentices, ensuring the focus remains on providing a proactive service to clients.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys the outdoors, particularly the Lake District, and can often be found hiking or exploring.
